Cannabis Classic News & Notes: Aug. 7
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT COMING FROM OLCC ABOUT WEED EVENTS
The OLCC will be posting new and more thorough rules concerning events like the Cannabis Classic in the next couple of weeks. Because these new rules will likely create significant changes to the legal landscape for events with marijuana vendors, and will be effect in December when the Cannabis Classic will take place, the representative is recommending that we wait until the new rules are posted to determine how to handle ticketing and admission.
Once the new rules are posted we will announce the date, time, and venue for this year’s Cannabis Classic.
KEY DATES AND DEADLINES FOR CANNABIS CLASSIC COMPETITION
The Cannabis Classic competition and awards will return to Oregon in December.
This is the third year for the Oregon-only competition that provides an opportunity for all of Oregon’s craft farmers and producers to compete in a blind judging format and provides a platform for cannabis excellence in Oregon.
In 2016, 34 growers and producers submitted 75 products to the competition. Judging was conducted by dozens of certified judges who assessed the appearance, aroma, taste, and effect of each entry.
The 2017 competition is expected to grow with additional entries and awards. This year, the competition will award the top three finishers of each category. First place will receive a sleek trophy made of glass and metal, while second and third place finishers will earn a beautiful glass medal to showcase.
CANNABIS CLASSIC’S PARTNERSHIP WITH STRAINRX EXTENDED
The Cannabis Classic and StrainRx.co have extended their partnership, which means StrainRx will continue to manage the judging experience, oversee the judging process, and calculate the judges’ scorecards.
“We are always looking to improve the judging experience,” said Kendra Wray, event organizer. “Our partnership with StrainRx will enhance the judging experience, simplify the evaluation process for our judges, and streamline the scoring process for competition officials.”
